Sleepy's 20% price guarantee ad: deceptive, false and misleading
My family and I went to your showroom store located on 219-19 Northern Blvd, Bayside, NY around 4pm on Jan. 3, 2016. We were looking to purchase a full size mattress for my 3 yrs old daughter. We narrowed our choice down to a Sealy Firm mattress with the help of your employee, Joe. He told us the price for that particular mattress was $260 for the mattress alone. We were at PC Richard earlier and saw a similar mattress, Sealy Satin Firm mattress that was priced at $190. Joe informed us that although the mattress is similar, they are not the same. Initially, he was not able to tell us the difference and at the end of the discussion, agreed and offered to match the price and give us additional 20% off per Sleepy’s price guarantee.
Joe tells me the price of the mattress would be $171 with the 20% discount. I informed him that was incorrect. He then tells me that its $162. I told him that was also incorrect as he told me that he first discounted the mattress by 10% instead of 20%. I let him know that 20% off $190 is $152. Why would he discount the mattress by 10% or even 15% ($162) when he told me I would be receiving a 20% discount?
Joe goes through the system of trying to figure out what happened. While on the phone explaining to whomever that is helping him, Joe states that a client is asking for 20% off a mattress that is not the same, even though Joe himself did not know what the difference was. I explained to Joe that he cannot say that the mattresses are not the same just because the name of the mattress is not the same. Joe then tells whoever he is on the phone with that the client (me) is being confrontational with him and whether he should tell the client to just go back to PC Richard instead. The conclusion as explained by Joe seems that the system would not allow him to discount the mattress by 20%. I found the reason to be strange if not convenient. I asked Joe to find out what the difference between Sleepy’s Sealy Firm and PC Richard’s Sealy Satin Firm as he not would no longer offer me the price match plus 20% off anymore as he initially agreed and stated. After another call, Joe said that the top of the mattress is made a little differently. Joe offered to match and discount the price by 10%. I declined the offered.
Here are the reasons why I declined the offered.
1. Joe does not seem well verse in your products to provide an adequate response as to why the mattresses were not the same in the first place.
2. While Joe initially agreed to match and discount the price by 20%. He gives me a price of 10% off then 15% instead of the 20% that he said he offered. Both times that he offered the price of 10% and 15%, he tells me that he has discounted the price by 20%. This leads me to believe that he is really bad at math and therefore should not be working for your firm or he was playing a numbers game with me, thinking I would not catch him with the error, which means he is deceptive and purposely trying to mislead me.
3. At one point, Joe told whomever he was speaking to on the phone that I was confrontational. I would like to know how he came to conclude that. I am sure you have surveillance footage of your showroom that would prove that was not the case, please review and let me know how I acted to trigger such a comment from him.
4. While Joe was on the phone, he spoke about me as if I was not there. He discussed out loud in front of me, whether he should tell the client (me) to go back to a competitor’s store (PC Richard) instead. I am not sure how you train your employees but I definitely would not train my employees to treat a customer that way. Joe’s customer service definitely needs improvement.
I saw on your website that the 20% refers to “the same or comparable mattress at a lower price.” The only difference Joe mentioned to me between your Sealy Firm and PC Richard’s Sealy Satin Firm is that the top of the mattress is made a slightly different. I believe an average person would interpret that as a comparable mattress. Sleepy’s price guarantee states that “Only Sleepy’s beats anyone’s price by 20% or it’s free.”
As Joe, an employee of Sleepy’s was not able to offer to match and beat PC Richard’s mattress that is “comparable,” by 20% as stated by your price guarantee ad, it would lead one to believe that your ad is therefore deceptive, false and misleading.
I am truly appalled by what happened as I have purchased my previous mattress from your firm. I look forward to hearing your response.

Preferred solution: Sleepy's should stop promoting their 20% ad, the ad is not only deceptive and false, it is misleading. I should be given the mattress for free per their ad.
DENIED WARRANTY CLAIM
ATTENTION ALL SLEEPY'S CUSTOMERS:
This is the clause in the warranty that they are using so as not to honor the warranty:
Mattresses or foundations displaying stains or soil
that reasonably indicates the presence of potentially
dangerous bodily fluids, blood borne pathogens
or other substances that could cause injury.
They harbor on the words "stains or soil" and selectively choose to ignore the rest. However, mine would qualify as nothing more than a slight discoloration.
After going back and forth on the phone, an alleged manager named "Melissa" had the audacity to have me go back to Sleepy's to make a donation the Sleepy's Got Ya Fund.
So for now I have to sleep in a defective mattress, but it isn't over yet.
I can't tell you where to purchase your mattress but I would implore you to stay as far away from Sleepy's as you can.

$2800.00 and a year later, bed is really uncomfortable and hot. 21 days isn't nearly long enough for a trial.I get its been a year, but its been a year and a lot of not sleeping thru the night.
Should've taken the advise to shop at Costco, they take everything back and go the extra distance. Have to pray for a manufacturers defect now! Any information or help on this would be appreciated.
Now I have to struggle to type 100 words, maybe they are hoping that people give up. Funny thing is, I have given up, after numerous calls the only option is to buy a different one at "Their" discounted price, don't even want to think what that is.

Firstly, we removed my old boxspring because it had to be taken out of my apartment via the balcony as it could not fit in the stairwell to be taken down the stairs. Sleepy's would only remove it via tradition ways. I totally understood and took care of that removal myself.
When the delivery men finally arrived late due to a truck problem, they seemed to be questioning who lived in my apartment when they asked how the boxspring was removed. I said my boyfriend...
When they tried multiple times bringing the mattress up the stairs and were having difficulties, I was asked how i managed to get the boxspring out. I took one of the delivery men through a bedroom to the balcony only to be asked if that was my son's room. Who's business is that who's room it is? Upon being on the balcony, he proceeded to tell me there was an extra charge to pull it onto the balcony. I asked him to keep trying to bring it up the stairs.
Long story short, I helped to pull the mattress up the stairs. The mattress finally made it up the stairs. My mattress did end up with a big pull in it which I am aware of. However, I believe this could have been avoided if the delivery man didn't have a bracelet on.
Nightmare
Sleepy's comfort policy is a scam. After attempting to sleep on a new zuzu mattress for 10 days and not being able to sleep more than 3 hours a night because of sweating and pain from this mattress, I went back to exchange it.
I told them I was willing to pay top dollar for any other mattress. They told me I had to wait 30 days until the manufacturers guarantee kicked in. They said the zuzu didn't qualify for the comfort policy. I have read thee policy to the store employees and to countless customer service personel.
I worked my way up to headquarters in New York which also told me they would not honor the policy.
I was forced to go buy a mattress someplace else and am waiting for the 30 day term to see if I can get my refund. If they don't honor the comfort policy, why would they honor the refund policy?
A horrible experience that I wouldn't wish on anyone!

Sleepys mattress and marshell mattress
These guys have the worst service and they are the biggest *** job and liars in the universe. I will never buy anything from them. I bought an expensive mattress and it is supposed to be under warrantee. It started sagging after few years.
I went to the store to check on the warrantee, they pushed me to their customer service. I called and then they send me a kit which i uploaded the photos to marshell mattress.
Now they claim it was never uploaded. When i called to check, they said my warrantee is void now, because the first person who sent the details did not tell me that unless they have a supporting legs, the warrantee is void.
I let myself be fast talked into a bad buy
I was so excited when the salesman told me that the floor models were on sale. I'd seen the posters in the store and on TV advertising a year financing with no interest.
He said he was checking to see if I could be approved but the screens I was signing with no text provided were actually me signing up for a credit card with 29% interest (Is that even legal?) and 6 months instead of 12 months to pay. I should have asked to see the forms I was signing for.
The salesman said they'd fixed all the motors on the mechanical beds to be quiet but the one I received isn't. It's also covered by a warranty which the mattress didn't have because it was a floor sample.
So what was I sold? Worse, The new cool top mattress is the most uncomfortable mattress I've slept on and it's my third Tempur-pedic so I have something to compare it with.

Have to keep bed for 30 days cant sleep.
No one told me my bed was nonrefundable and exchangeable after only 30 days. I despise the bed and want to return it. They offered no options.
This is a terrible company no wonder everyone is buying elsewhere.

The Dirty Matttress Business
My wife found a defect in our mattress in that there was *** in the seam. Didn't think it was worth worrying about but she insisted.
Since we paid over $3,000 for a twin which included an additional warranty she thought she was entitled to a perfect mattress. Company said ok when can we replace the mattress? Delivery was today. The replacement mattress turned out to be a USED mattress.
There was even a stain on it.
Luckily the delivery guys were still in front of the house and I had them give us back our original new mattress. And you know, we could have bought a comparable mattress and motorized base for $1,299 at Costco.
